A dramatic rescue carried out by Bridlington RNLI during Storm Amy in 2025 is set to be featured in a new episode of the BBC documentary series Saving Lives at Sea. The programme will air on Wednesday 13th October at 8pm on BBC Two, giving viewers a rare insight into one of the most severe storms to hit the Yorkshire coast last year.
The episode revisits the events of 3rd and 4th October 2025, when volunteers from Bridlington, Scarborough and Humber RNLI lifeboat stations joined HM Coastguard and other vessels in a major multi-agency operation. With towering seas, gale‑force winds and relentless weather battering the coastline, crews faced some of the toughest conditions experienced by Bridlington RNLI volunteers throughout 2025.

The BBC series, now in its long-running format, offers behind‑the‑scenes access to RNLI lifesaving operations across the UK. The upcoming episode highlights the professionalism, courage and teamwork shown by volunteer lifeboat crews who respond to emergencies at any hour, regardless of the conditions.
Bridlington RNLI Volunteer Press Officer Mike Milner said the team was honoured to be featured: “We are proud that the dedication and commitment of our volunteer crew will be showcased on Saving Lives at Sea. The programme highlights the realities of lifesaving at sea and the challenges our volunteer crews and partner agencies face when responding in difficult weather conditions. We hope it provides viewers with a greater understanding of the RNLI’s vital work and the difference our volunteers make in saving lives.”
The episode will be available on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer, offering audiences the chance to see Bridlington’s volunteers in action as they continue their mission of saving lives at sea.
