Local Member of Parliament, Charlie Dewhirst, is once again inviting primary school children from across the area to take part in his annual Christmas Card Competition.

Following the huge success in the last two years, pupils from across our local area are encouraged to try their hand at designing a Christmas card – the winning design will be used as Charlie’s official Christmas card, which will be sent to residents, community leaders and organisations across Bridlington and The Wolds.

The winner will also receive a special prize and a certificate of achievement, and two runners-up will have their designs featured on Charlie’s website and social media.

Last year’s winning design was by Beatrix Rogerson, a Year 5 pupil at Nafferton Primary School. Charlie visited the school to surprise Beatrix during assembly, where he shared the news with pupils and teachers, and presented her with a prize to thank her for entering. Her festive design – featuring the Houses of Parliament, a London bus and Big Ben wearing a Santa hat – was printed as Charlie’s official Christmas card and sent to residents, community groups and organisations across the Bridlington and The Wolds constituency. The runners-up were Adelaide from Hornsea Community Primary School, Heidi from Hutton Cranswick Community Primary School, Thomas from Hilderthorpe Primary School and Eoin from Driffield Northfield Infant School.

2024’s winner was Megan Kilkenny from Driffield Junior School, whose charming drawing of Father Christmas on his reindeer-led sleigh in the night sky was sent out to people across the constituency. The runners-up were James King from Nafferton Primary School, and Thomas Fawcett from Kings Mill School – both of whom demonstrated fantastic creativity and skill with their designs, which were shared across social media and featured on Charlie Dewhirst MP’s website.

Charlie Dewhirst MP said: “I'm thrilled to announce my third annual Christmas Card Competition, following two very successful years, and invite pupils from across our Bridlington and The Wolds community to take part, show off their creativity and celebrate the upcoming festive season.

“Last year I was sleighed by the hundreds of high calibre submissions, it was so hard to pick just one winning entry – East Yorkshire’s children really do have the most wonderful creativity, talent and sense of fun.

“While it might just be a little too early for many to be thinking of Christmas yet, there’s a lot of planning ahead needed to send my card to residents, community leaders and organisations across our area, so there’s no time like the presents.

“This community-focused way to celebrate Christmas is one of my highlights of the year, so I can’t wait to see your designs. Find out more at charliedewhirst.uk/christmascard2026”

Charlie will be in touch with local primary schools directly to provide details on how their pupils can enter. For more information visit: charliedewhirst.uk/christmascard2026 or get in touch with Charlie directly by emailing charlie.dewhirst.mp@parliament.uk
