Police Step Up Action on Drugs, Shop Theft and E‑Ride Offences Across Bridlington

Humberside Police have outlined a series of major actions taken across Bridlington as part of their ongoing neighbourhood policing priorities — with officers praised for their proactive, visible and intelligence‑led work to keep the town safe.

Drug Activity – Ongoing Core Priority

Drug dealing and drug use around Bridlington town centre remain a key focus for the Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT). Officers continue to act on community intelligence, monitor addresses showing increased activity, and use stop‑and‑search powers to target individuals of concern.

Recent weeks have seen the whole NPT team deployed together to “flood” hotspot areas, resulting in positive stop searches, multiple drug arrests under Operation Shield, and successful deployments of a drugs dog.

Working alongside East Riding of Yorkshire Council, officers have issued Closure Orders and Warning Notices for several properties linked to drug activity. Warrants have also been executed at five addresses in the town, strengthening the force’s Clear, Hold, Build approach to tackling organised crime.

Residents are reminded they can report concerns anonymously via Crimestoppers.

Humber Talking – Listening to Local Voices

Officers continue to carry out Humber Talking visits across Bridlington, speaking directly with householders to understand local concerns and shape future policing priorities. Those preferring to take part online can submit issues via the Humber Talking website.

The force says these responses are vital in helping them understand what matters most to residents.

Shop Theft – High‑Visibility Patrols

Shop theft remains a priority in busy retail areas including Promenade, St John’s Street and Hilderthorpe Road. Officers are carrying out regular high‑visibility foot patrols, working closely with shop managers, offering crime‑prevention advice, and responding positively to any offences.

The Shop Watch radio scheme continues to support quick communication between retailers and police.

E‑Scooters & E‑Bikes – Ongoing Enforcement

Police are also tackling the illegal use of e‑scooters, e‑bikes and motorcycle‑related anti‑social behaviour across the town. Several riders have already received warnings, and hotspot areas are being actively patrolled with further enforcement planned.
