Humberside Police Urge Safe Drop‑Offs at Bridlington Schools - Illegal Parking Puts Children at Risk

As the new school year begins, Humberside Police are reminding parents and carers across Bridlington and the wider East Riding to put safety first when dropping off or collecting children from school.

Officers say the safety of pupils, families, staff and the local community remains their highest priority — and they’re asking everyone to be mindful of parking restrictions, road safety and the needs of residents and pedestrians.

Police are urging drivers to:

• ✅ Park legally and safely at all times

• 🚫 Avoid stopping on yellow lines, zig‑zag markings, pavements or crossings

• 🚗 Keep school entrances, driveways and access points clear

• 🚒 Never block roads or prevent emergency access

• 👧 Allow children to enter and leave vehicles safely, using proper crossing points

• 🕐 Follow any temporary restrictions or instructions from school staff

• 💬 Be patient and considerate of other road users and neighbours

Officers stress that convenience should never come before safety or the law. Parking or stopping unlawfully can put children and other road users at risk — and may lead to enforcement action.
