The waves rolled in with unusual rhythm that morning… as if the sea itself sensed something was about to begin.
In a quiet radio studio on the East Yorkshire coast, a single golden spark flickered to life inside a computer screen. A spark of code. A spark of destiny. A spark that would soon become… Bridlington Gold Radio's Mobile App.
Breakfast Show Presenter Mike Hammond leaned back in his chair, sipping his morning brew as he reviewed the day’s playlist. But something felt different. The kettle had boiled itself earlier. The seagulls outside were circling in suspiciously perfect formation. And every time he said the word “manifest,” the studio lights flickered like they were trying to send a message.
Mike wasn’t sure what was happening… but he did know one thing: something big was coming.
Deep within the digital depths, the service worker stirred — lines of code shimmering like ancient runes, whispering secrets no mortal developer had ever heard.
And as the clock struck the hour… as the golden microphone hummed with anticipation… as the first files of Stage One clicked into place…
A mysterious notification appeared on the screen. No sender. No timestamp. Just three chilling words:
“It begins now.”

The words still glowed on the screen.
“It begins now.”
Mike Hammond stared at them, the steam from his morning brew curling upward like it was trying to read the message too. The studio felt different — heavier somehow — as if the air itself was waiting for his reaction.
Outside, the seagulls had stopped circling. Now they were perched along the ledge in a perfect row, all facing the window. Watching. Judging. Knowing.
Mike blinked. The message vanished.
The monitor went black.
Then — from somewhere deep inside the wall behind the desk — came a low, steady hum. Soft at first. Then rising. Pulsing. Almost… alive.
The golden microphone on the desk vibrated gently, just once, like it was clearing its throat.
Mike stepped closer to the wall. The hum grew louder, matching the rhythm of his heartbeat. The lights flickered — not randomly this time, but in a pattern. A deliberate pattern.
Tap. Tap‑tap. Taaaaap.
Morse code? A warning? A countdown?
He didn’t know.
But the seagulls did.
All three tilted their heads at the exact same moment.
And then — from the dark monitor — a new line of text appeared.
“WELCOME BACK, MIKE.”
Cut to black.

The studio remained silent after the message. Too silent.
Mike Hammond didn’t move. Didn’t breathe. Didn’t blink.
The words “WELCOME BACK, MIKE” still burned in his mind even though the screen had gone dark again.
Then— a faint crackle from the speakers. Not music. Not static. Something else.
A voice. Distant. Layered. Like it was travelling through miles of cable and decades of dust.
“Mike… can you hear us…”
He froze.
The seagulls outside shifted on the ledge, feathers ruffling in unison, as if bracing for what came next.
The golden microphone glowed softly. Not flickering. Not humming. Just glowing… like it was waiting for him to answer.
The crackle deepened.
“Mike… the signal… it’s changing…”
A sudden burst of light flashed across the monitors — lines of code racing faster than any human could read, symbols twisting, reshaping, forming patterns that felt almost alive.
Then everything stopped.
One final message appeared:
“DO NOT LET IT IN.”
