Bridlington Health Forum has confirmed that its next Public Meeting will take place on Tuesday 16th July at Christ Church, 2 Quay Road, where residents will hear the latest updates on local dentistry services and the future of the Bridlington Care Unit.

Representation from York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is expected but has not yet been formally confirmed. The Trust remains central to ongoing discussions about the Care Unit, following the proposed closure earlier this year and the subsequent decision to pause that plan pending further review and public engagement.

The July meeting is likely to draw significant interest, with many residents continuing to seek clarity on what long‑term care provision will look like in the town. The Bridlington Care Unit has been a major point of concern for local campaigners, councillors and MP Charlie Dewhirst, who have all argued that services should be strengthened rather than scaled back.

A dentistry update will also feature prominently. Access to NHS dental care has become a growing challenge across the East Riding, with coastal communities such as Bridlington among the hardest hit. National NHS data continues to show shortages of NHS dentists, long waiting lists and limited capacity for new patients — issues that have prompted calls for urgent reform and investment.

Bridlington Health Forum, which regularly brings together residents, health leaders and local representatives, says the meeting will give the public a chance to hear directly from those responsible for delivering and commissioning services.
