A man has been charged after an early‑morning incident on Bessingby Gate in Bridlington in which a pedestrian was reportedly driven at and later assaulted.
The incident happened at around 7.10am on Tuesday, 23rd June 2026, when a man was seen entering a vehicle before allegedly driving towards a woman. He is then said to have left the car and punched the woman, who police believe is known to him.
It was further reported that the man reversed into another vehicle before fleeing the scene.
Following enquiries, Owen Shepherd, 25, of Bessingby Gate, Bridlington, has been charged with:

Two counts of criminal damage

Two counts of assault by beating

Threats to kill

Possession of a Class B drug

Driving whilst disqualified

Driving without insurance

Driving without a licence

Dangerous driving
Shepherd has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Hull Magistrates’ Court this morning (Thursday, 25th June 2026).
Police continue to encourage anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
