Humberside Police issue drink‑driving warning ahead of England vs Panama World Cup match.

With England set to take on Panama this Saturday (27th June), Humberside Police are urging football fans across Bridlington and East Yorkshire to enjoy the match safely — and to stay off the road if they’ve been drinking or taking drugs.

The Roads Policing Team say they will have officers out across the region carrying out checks and supporting communities throughout the evening.

Inspector Neil Hutchins said: “On Saturday, back England. Don’t bottle it behind the wheel. If you’re heading out to watch the World Cup, we hope you enjoy the match — but if you drink or take drugs, don’t drive.

“Our officers will be out supporting our communities and actively checking drivers are being responsible. Drink and drug driving is a major cause of serious and fatal collisions; one second, one lapse of judgment, can have devastating consequences. Stay safe and don’t risk yours and others’ lives behind the wheel.”

Police are encouraging fans to plan their journey home before the match kicks off, using safe and reliable alternatives to driving.

Recommended options include: 🚖 Booking a taxi 🚌 Using public transport 🚶‍♂️ Walking if it’s safe to do so 🚗 Having a designated driver

The message from officers is clear: Drive safe, every time.
