Bridlington’s Emergency Services Prepare for a Busy Halloween and Bonfire Night

As Halloween and Bonfire Night approach, Humberside Police and Humberside Fire & Rescue Service are each stepping up their seasonal safety operations across Bridlington — working independently but with the same goal: keeping the community safe.

Police Patrols and Public Reassurance

Humberside Police say this period, running through to Sunday 8th November, is one of their busiest times of the year. Officers will be out in force to tackle antisocial behaviour and reassure residents who prefer not to take part in Halloween celebrations.

Chief Inspector Tom Stevens said:

“Throughout this period you will see additional police presence in and around your neighbourhood. We want everyone to enjoy themselves safely, and we will deal promptly with anyone causing harm or distress.”

He added that police will not tolerate behaviour such as throwing objects at houses, cars or people, or intimidating those who choose not to celebrate.

“Please remember not everyone wants to join in, and we ask that those who do celebrate consider their neighbours.”

Residents can download ‘No Trick or Treat’ posters from the Humberside Police website.

Fire Service Focus on Bin and Firework Safety

Meanwhile, Humberside Fire & Rescue Service is reminding Bridlington residents to take extra care with wheelie bins, fireworks and seasonal waste. Their advice includes:

  • ✔ Store bins securely, especially at night.

  • ✔ Put bins out only on collection day and bring them back promptly.

  • ✔ Keep bins away from doors, windows and buildings.

  • ✔ Never put hot ashes, smoking materials or batteries in bins.

  • ✔ Report deliberate fires anonymously via Arson Alert.

A wheelie bin fire can spread quickly, putting homes, pets and the environment at risk. The service also warns against illegal firework use and urges residents to attend organised displays rather than lighting fireworks in the street.

Community Message

Both services expect Bridlington’s community spirit to shine through — whether residents are celebrating or simply enjoying a quiet evening. Their shared message: “Celebrate safely, respect others, and help keep Bridlington trouble‑free this season.”
