Bridlington is gearing up for one of its longest‑running and most cherished annual events as the Bridlington Charter Fair returns to the town centre from Wednesday 21st to Sunday 25th October 2026. Loved by generations and steeped in more than 800 years of history, the fair promises five days of thrilling rides, family favourites and traditional seaside treats.

Visitors can expect a vibrant mix of attractions, from giant rides to classic juvenile favourites, alongside prize stalls, refreshments and all the nostalgic goodies that make the Charter Fair a local institution — including brandy snap, toffee apples and candy floss.

Opening Ceremony

The fair officially opens at 5pm on Wednesday 21 October, with the Mayor of Bridlington, local dignitaries and members of the Showmen’s Guild in attendance. In keeping with long‑held tradition, every ride the Mayor tries is opened for the public to enjoy, marking the start of the festivities.

Another treasured moment is the ringing of the Fair Bells, once owned by the late James Robinson. The bells signal the beginning of one of the oldest charter fairs in the country, with origins dating back to the year 1200.

Straight From Hull Fair

Many of the rides and stalls arrive directly from Hull Fair, Europe’s largest travelling fair, which runs from 9 to 17 October (closed Sunday 12th). For anyone who missed the excitement there, Bridlington offers a second chance to experience the fun.

Opening Times

  • Wednesday 21st October – 5pm to late

  • Thursday 22nd October – 5pm to late

  • Friday 23rd October – 5pm to late

  • Saturday 24th October – 1pm to late

  • Sunday 25th October – 1pm to 7pm

The Bridlington Charter Fair remains a highlight of the town’s autumn calendar, bringing together tradition, community spirit and classic fairground fun for all ages.
