Hundreds of votes have already poured in for Bridlington and The Wolds’ Pub of the Year 2026, as locals rally behind their favourite watering holes in one of the area’s most popular annual competitions.
The launch comes as Charlie Dewhirst MP joined the British Beer & Pub Association in Parliament for the release of a new report highlighting the economic strength of the UK’s beer and pub industry — with Bridlington and East Yorkshire standing out as one of the strongest regions in the country.
According to the report, our part of East Yorkshire is home to 114 pubs and six breweries, contributing an impressive £60 million in Gross Value Added to the local economy. The sector also pays £34 million in wages, supporting 1,632 jobs, and sees £2.7 million invested each year — a reminder of just how vital pubs are to communities like Bridlington.
With 114 brilliant pubs and bars our constituency, residents are spoilt for choice as voting opens for the 2026 awards. Last year, more than 1,200 people across Bridlington, Driffield, Market Weighton, Hornsea and The Wolds nominated their favourites, and organisers are expecting another bumper turnout.
This year’s categories include:
-
Best High Street Pub
-
Best Rural Pub
-
Best Pub Grub
-
Best Beer Garden
-
Best Pub Live Entertainment
-
Best Staff and Service
Every nomination also counts towards the overall Pub of the Year 2026 title.
Residents can vote by selecting one pub per category. If a favourite isn’t listed, voters can choose ‘Other’ and type it in manually. Only one vote per person is allowed, and the deadline is Saturday 31st October. Results will be announced on Charlie Dewhirst’s website and social media channels.
Voting is now open at: charliedewhirst.uk/puboftheyear2026
With Bridlington’s pubs at the heart of community life — from live music nights to quiz evenings and family‑friendly beer gardens — the competition is a chance to celebrate the venues that keep the town’s social spirit flowing.
