Residents in Bridlington are being encouraged to follow a new Facebook page launched by East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s dog warden team, designed to help reunite lost dogs with their owners more quickly.
The council, which is responsible for stray and unattended dogs under Section 149 of the Environment Protection Act 1990, says the new page will make it easier for people in Bridlington and surrounding villages to check whether their missing pet has been found.
The page will feature photographs and key details of dogs picked up by the team. However, not every dog will be posted online, so Bridlington residents are urged to contact the dog warden service directly if their pet goes missing.
Councillor Lyn Healing, Cabinet Member for Communities and Public Protection, said:
“This is a great new resource, and we hope it will help to more easily reunite dogs with their owners. We encourage interested residents to follow the page on Facebook for updates.”
Anyone collecting a dog from the council must provide proof of ownership before it can be returned.
