Bertie, the 16‑year‑old dog, moments after being safely rescued by Bridlington Coastguard at Flamborough.
A heart‑warming rescue unfolded in Flamborough after 16‑year‑old Bertie the dog found himself stuck in dense undergrowth at the bottom of a steep embankment.
Bridlington Coastguard Rescue Team were called to assist and quickly deployed to the scene. After carefully making their way down the slope, the team located Bertie and brought him safely back up to his relieved owners.
Station Officer Jordan Grebby said:
“We usually get called to dogs over the cliff, but this one was so very different! Bertie’s owners did exactly the right thing — when they realised he was stuck, they called 999 and asked for the Coastguard. This meant we could get to Bertie quickly and safely reunite him with his owners.”
Bertie was none the worse for his adventure and was soon back home, tail wagging and enjoying plenty of fuss.
The Coastguard praised the owners for their quick thinking and reminded the public: if you ever see someone — or a pet — in difficulty around the coast, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
