Three suspected stolen motor vehicles have been recovered and two men arrested following a coordinated police operation in the early hours of Wednesday, 15th July 2026.
At around 2.15am, officers were called to reports of a Hanoi‑style burglary at a property on Kingston Close, Bridlington, after a member of the public reported an intruder in their garden wearing what appeared to be a balaclava. Their vehicle had also been stolen.
Patrol officers quickly located the suspected stolen vehicle, but the driver reportedly failed to stop on the B1259 and drove off‑road into a field near Langtoft. The Police Dog Unit was deployed, locating the abandoned vehicle and recovering it for forensic examination.
Initial enquiries suggested the vehicle may have been part of a convoy travelling from West Yorkshire earlier in the night, including a suspected cloned vehicle seen in the Cherry Burton area.
Roads Policing Officers intercepted the cloned vehicle shortly afterwards. The driver reportedly blew 110 on a roadside breath test and was also suspected of driving while disqualified. The vehicle was confirmed as stolen.
A 51‑year‑old man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, drug driving, disqualified driving, driving without insurance, two counts of theft of a motor vehicle, and burglary dwelling with intent to steal.
A second linked vehicle was later spotted by Bridlington Patrol Sergeants travelling west along the A166, eventually stopping in Wetwang. Officers found a man inside the vehicle covered in mud, matching the description of the earlier fleeing driver. This vehicle was also confirmed as cloned and stolen.
A 26‑year‑old man was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, burglary dwelling with intent to steal, driving without insurance, and driving without a licence. After failing a roadside drug swipe, he was further arrested on suspicion of drug driving.
All three vehicles have been recovered for forensic examination before being returned to their owners. Both men remain in police custody assisting with ongoing enquiries.
