Bridlington has recorded the joint highest rise in property prices for first‑time buyers anywhere in the country, according to new figures from Rightmove.
The survey found the average asking price for a two‑bedroom home in the town has climbed to £167,321, marking an 18% increase in just twelve months.
Industry experts say the surge reflects a national trend in which buyers are increasingly targeting areas where homeownership remains within reach. Nathan Emerson, chief executive of Propertymark, said affordability continues to shape the market for new buyers.
He added that the strongest price growth is being seen in places where first‑time buyers can still realistically get onto the property ladder, despite challenges such as higher mortgage costs, rising living expenses and the difficulty of saving for a deposit.
Rightmove’s analysis shows that the fastest‑growing markets for first‑time buyer homes typically have average prices below £170,000, highlighting continued demand for more affordable locations.
Across the UK, the average price for a first‑time property now stands at £228,048, a slight annual fall of 0.7%. London was excluded from the analysis.
