As the summer holidays begin and families across Bridlington settle into weeks of beach days, gaming sessions and screen time, parents are being encouraged to make use of trusted online safety resources to help keep children safe.
The East Riding Safeguarding Children Partnership (ERSCP) is reminding mums, dads and carers that children often spend more time online during the school break — whether that’s chatting with friends, watching videos, or playing games — and that knowing where to find reliable guidance can make a huge difference.
ERSCP hosts a range of easy‑to‑use webpages designed specifically for parents, covering everything from spotting potential risks to starting conversations about online behaviour.
Another recommended resource is Skips Safety Net, a Home Office‑endorsed programme offering clear advice on topics such as:
-
Social media
-
Sharing photos
-
Online gaming
-
Live streaming
-
Grooming risks
-
Fake news

Families can access the information online or order printed workbooks through the Skips Safety Net website.
Merlin Joseph, Chair of the East Riding Safeguarding Children Partnership, said: “As the summer holidays begin, children may spend more time online. We want to make sure parents and carers know where to go for information that can help keep children safe online. We also want families to know what to do if something goes wrong, and what action to take.”
Both ERSCP and Skips Safety Net also provide clear reporting routes and encourage families to have open, honest conversations about online safety — something especially important during the busy summer months here in Bridlington.
