Bridlington Coastguard Rescue Team has reported its busiest Bank Holiday on record, attending 16 incidents across Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
The final callout came late on Monday night, when a major multi‑agency search was launched following reports of a person in the water off Bridlington South Beach.
Bridlington and Hornsea Coastguard Rescue Teams, both Bridlington RNLI lifeboats, the Coastguard Rescue Helicopter and Humberside Police carried out an extensive shoreline and offshore search. Crews covered the beach, the waterline and a wide area of sea off the Bridlington coast.
The operation continued into the early hours. After further information was received, teams, lifeboats and helicopter assets completed their search with nothing untoward found, and all units were stood down pending any additional updates.
Coastguard officials say no further details will be released at this stage.
They also thanked all emergency service personnel and volunteers for their efforts during what has been an exceptionally demanding Bank Holiday period.
