Bridlington’s Neighbourhood Policing Team has seized nine e‑scooters and two e‑bikes during a targeted operation carried out as part of the National Day of Action.

Officers were joined by the Rural Task Force drone unit and members of the Special Constabulary as they focused on ongoing concerns about the illegal use of e‑scooters and e‑bikes across the town.

Police say they have spent recent months speaking with riders, offering advice and explaining the laws around where and how these vehicles can be used. Despite that engagement work, a number of riders were found using e‑scooters and e‑bikes unlawfully during the operation, leading to the seizures and several warnings being issued to first‑time offenders.

The force is reminding anyone considering using an e‑scooter or e‑bike to make sure they fully understand the legislation before riding on public roads, pavements or other public highways. Guidance on the legal requirements is available online.
