Man Arrested After Shop Theft and Hammer Threats in Bridlington

A man has been arrested after officers were called to reports of a shop theft and a disturbance involving a hammer in Bridlington yesterday afternoon.

Police received a call at around 2.15pm following reports of theft from a shop on Chapel Street. Shortly afterwards, further reports were made of a man allegedly making threats to members of the public with a hammer.

Officers attended the area swiftly and located a man matching the description provided by callers. The 34‑year‑old was arrested on suspicion of theft from a shop, possession of a weapon in a public place, and affray.

He remains in police custody while enquiries continue.
