Public Safety Alert: Fake TikTok Job Scams Targeting Locals

Humberside Police are warning residents about a new wave of online job scams offering remote TikTok-based roles with eye-catching pay — up to £800 a day. But behind the promise lies a trap: fraudsters demand upfront fees for fake training, DBS checks, or visa sponsorship, then vanish.
How the scam works:- Victims are lured with simple online tasks (liking videos, reviewing hotels).- They’re promised high commissions and flexible hours.- Before starting, they’re asked to pay “processing” or “training” fees.- Some are added to WhatsApp groups or shown fake bank balances to appear legit.- Once paid, the scammers disappear — no job, no refund.
Stay safe:- Be wary of job offers that sound too good to be true.- Never pay to apply for a job or transfer money on behalf of a company.- Research recruiters independently — don’t trust links or documents they send.- Avoid unknown group chats or messaging apps claiming to be part of the hiring process.
