Free Weekend Parking Returns to Bridlington for Festive Shoppers

Bridlington town centre is set for a seasonal boost as East Riding of Yorkshire Council brings back its popular free weekend parking scheme to support local businesses in the run-up to Christmas.

Now in its 18th year, the initiative offers free parking from 8am Saturday to 8am Monday across council-run on-street and off-street locations throughout the East Riding—including Bridlington—on the following weekends:

• Saturday 29 & Sunday 30 November
• Saturday 6 & Sunday 7 December
• Saturday 13 & Sunday 14 December
• Saturday 20 & Sunday 21 December

The second weekend of free parking also coincides with Small Business Saturday—a nationwide campaign encouraging shoppers to support independent retailers and traders in their communities.

Additionally, free parking will be available on Sunday 9 November to support Remembrance Sunday events, allowing residents to attend commemorations without worrying about parking fees.

Councillor Anne Handley, leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said:

Important reminder: While charges are suspended, standard parking rules still apply—including restrictions around disabled bays, maximum stay limits, and controlled parking zones.
