England’s First World Beach Pro Tour Event Set for Bridlington This Summer

East Riding of Yorkshire Council has announced that England will host its first ever World Beach Pro Tour (BPT) volleyball event in Bridlington this June, bringing world‑class athletes from across the globe to the East Yorkshire coast.
The international tournament will take place from Thursday 25 to Sunday 28 June, delivered in partnership with Volleyball England and local club Skyball Beach Volleyball Club.
The announcement follows several years of investment in Bridlington’s beach volleyball infrastructure. The town has already staged major competitions including the 2023 NEVZA Youth Beach Championships and the 2024 NEVZA Beach England event for senior players.
Spectators will be able to enjoy the action free of charge, with selected matches also available via live stream.
Councillor Nick Coultish, East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s cabinet member for culture and leisure, said the event marks a significant milestone for the region.
“We are delighted to welcome this brand-new event to Bridlington and build upon our long-standing partnership with Volleyball England.
We look forward to welcoming some of the world’s best volleyball players to East Yorkshire. This high-profile international event will provide a huge tourism boost to our local businesses as well as attracting international visitors.”
As host nation, England is guaranteed strong representation in both the men’s and women’s competitions. Up to three home teams may enter each main draw, with the possibility of a fourth team entering qualification if they hold sufficient ranking points.
Pete Makowski, co-founder of Skyball and Lead Coach at The Gorse Academies Trust, said the event represents a major opportunity for the sport locally.
“The Beach Pro Tour is the highest level of beach volleyball competition on the world stage. Having some of the top players globally in attendance is an ideal chance to inspire future generations across Yorkshire and the country as a whole.”
Rob Payne, Volleyball England’s Strategy Manager for an Ace Service, added:
“We have shown over the last two years that Bridlington is a fantastic destination for beach volleyball, and we are proud and excited to have now earned the opportunity to stage an elite level event in the town.
This is a landmark moment in our bid to make the sport more visible in the UK.”
CEV President Roko Sikirić welcomed the news, highlighting the growing momentum of the sport in the UK.
“I am pleased to see beach volleyball expanding its reach with the delivery of the first event of this calibre in England. We are confident this showcase will inspire many people to follow the sport more closely and encourage local youngsters to pursue a career in it.”
