Two men have been sentenced to a combined total of 16 years and seven months in prison for offences committed against a vulnerable 13‑year‑old girl, following hearings at Hull Crown Court on Friday 30th January 2026.

Riley Smith, 19, of New Street, Louth, denied the charges but was found guilty of joint enterprise rape after a four‑day trial at Grimsby Crown Court in July 2025. He has now been sentenced to seven years in prison and placed on the sex offenders register for life.

Shahram Ibrehemi, 20, of The Crescent, Bridlington, had earlier pleaded guilty to three counts of rape. He has been sentenced to nine years and seven months in prison, and will also remain on the sex offenders register for life.

Detective Constable Mark Tomlinson, who led the investigation, said the case began after police received a report that the young victim had been taken to a hotel room on Anlaby Road, Hull, on 26th December 2024. Enquiries, including CCTV analysis and witness accounts, enabled officers to identify and locate both offenders.

Ibrehemi was arrested on 14th January 2025 and charged following a no‑comment interview. Smith was arrested in Grimsby on 19 March 2025 after evading police for two months. He denied the allegations but was convicted by a jury after a seven‑day trial.
DC Tomlinson praised the victim’s courage throughout the investigation and court process, stating that her bravery ensured both men were brought to justice.

He added that the force remains committed to supporting victims of sexual abuse and pursuing offenders:
“Our priority is always the safety and wellbeing of victims. We work closely with partners and agencies to ensure people feel supported and safeguarded, and we will continue to take action to prevent offending and protect our communities.”
