As the new year begins, Bridlington Local Community Lift (BLCL) is calling on local residents to consider how they can make a meaningful difference in their community.

To show appreciation for those who step forward before 23rd February, BLCL is offering a special prize draw for new volunteers. After completing their first five lifts, each new volunteer will be entered to win one of the following prizes:

• A family day pass to Sewerby Hall and Gardens (up to 4 people)

• A family ticket to The Edge Aerial Adventure (up to 4 people)

• Two tickets to a show at Bridlington Spa (subject to availability and show type)

BLCL extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who has already joined the volunteer driver team. Their support will help transform lives by helping residents across Bridlington access essential medical appointments.

However, we need more volunteers. Recent figures show that many Bridlington residents missed vital medical appointments last year simply because they had no transport available. BLCL was created in direct response to this challenge, endeavouring to see fewer people are left without a way to travel when it matters most.

Colin Oliver and Geoff Traves are two volunteer drivers from Bridlington who have just finished their training, they said “we are really looking forward to getting started. We know how important it is for people to get to their medical appointments and it feels good knowing that something as simple as giving someone a lift can make such a big difference to their day.”

To expand its reach, BLCL is now seeking additional volunteer drivers. Anyone with their own vehicle and a desire to help others is encouraged to get involved. Volunteers can offer as much or as little time as they are able—whether that’s a few hours each week or occasional availability. We offer 45p mile to cover fuel costs for volunteers and every lift given makes a real and lasting difference to someone’s life.A small amount of your time could make a huge difference to someone else.
