A Bridlington resident has been sentenced to 40 weeks in prison following two separate burglary incidents earlier this month.

Shaun Wilcox, 46, of North Street, appeared before Hull Magistrates Court on Monday, 20th October 2025, where he was convicted on two counts of burglary.

The first incident occurred on Friday, 3rd October, when police received a report of a break-in at a business premises on Chapel Street. The suspect was said to have forced entry and stolen a charity collection box containing cash before fleeing the scene.

Two weeks later, on Friday, 17th October, another business on King Street reported a burglary in which windows had been smashed, the door removed, and both stock and the till taken.

Following investigations, Wilcox was identified as the suspect in both cases and was arrested on the same day by local patrol officers.

Neighbourhood Policing Inspector Ian Foster commented: “I hope this outcome reassures the local community and businesses that offences of this nature will not be tolerated. We remain committed to treating all reports seriously and, where appropriate, ensuring offenders are brought before the courts.”
